Every great collection starts the same way: one figure, one shelf, and a feeling that you can't quite shake. If you're just getting into Funko Pops — welcome. You're in good company.
Funko Pop! vinyl figures have been turning pop culture moments into collectibles since 2010. Today there are thousands of figures spanning every fandom imaginable — from classic horror icons to anime heroes to the latest blockbuster releases. The big black eyes, the oversized heads, the instantly recognizable style. Once you see one on a shelf, you know exactly what it is.
Where Do I Start?
Start with what you love. That sounds obvious, but it's the most important rule in collecting. Don't buy something because it might be worth money someday. Buy it because it means something to you. A Demon Slayer Pop on your desk hits different when you're the kind of person who stayed up until 2am to finish the season.
Pick a fandom, a character, or a theme you're genuinely excited about — and start there. That first Pop will tell you a lot about where your collection is headed.
In Box or Out of Box?
It's one of the great debates in the hobby. Some collectors keep everything mint in box (MIB) for display value and resale potential. Others pop them out, arrange them on shelves, and handle them freely. Neither is wrong. It's your collection.
Our take? If it makes you happy every time you look at it, you're doing it right.
What Are Entertainment Earth Exclusives?
You'll notice many figures listed as "Entertainment Earth Exclusive." These are limited runs produced exclusively for Entertainment Earth — the same retailer that distributes many of our products at Joytropolis. They're often limited in quantity, which means they can sell out fast. If you see something you want, don't wait on it.
How Do I Display Them?
Funko Pops stack beautifully on standard shelving, but dedicated display cases take things to the next level. Floating shelves, curio cabinets, and IKEA Kallax units are collector favorites. The key is keeping them out of direct sunlight — UV exposure can fade boxes and vinyl over time.
One More Thing
The best thing about this hobby isn't the figures themselves — it's the community around them. Fellow collectors who get excited about a wave drop the same way you do. People who understand why you stayed up to catch a midnight restock. That's the world you're stepping into.
Welcome to Joytropolis. Population: you.
